Board-Certified Dermatologists

Board-Certified Dermatologists are Medical Doctors or Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who have served at least a three-year Residency in Dermatology after Medical School, and have passed exams given by the American Board of Dermatology, the American Osteopathic Association, or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Resident Doctors

Resident Doctors are licensed Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who are serving an additional three-year Dermatology Residency to become Board-Certified Dermatologists.

Biography

A Board-Certified Dermatologist, John Young, MD, FAAD was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and earned his bachelor’s degree at Louisiana State University, where he was valedictorian of 2000 graduates. He earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas on a US Air Force scholarship, became a flight surgeon for the Air Force and was deployed to the United Arab Emirates. He was the youngest officer in twenty years to be accepted into the dermatology residency program in San Antonio, Texas.

Following his residency, Dr. Young served as a staff dermatologist in Biloxi, Mississippi. He moved his family to Oregon in 2006 following Hurricane Katrina, and is the founder of Silver Falls Dermatology.

Biography

Brandon Markus, DO graduated cum laude from BYU Hawaii, earning a bachelors degree in biochemistry. After working as a chemist for two years, Brandon attended Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona, where he earned his medical degree. He then completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis, Oregon.

He completed his residency here, at Silver Falls Dermatology, and is now a staff dermatologist.

Biography

Karla Snider, DO was born and raised in Green River, Wyoming. She earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Wyoming, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California where she graduated with honors. After graduating she completed her internship at Detroit Medical Center in Commerce Township, Michigan. She enjoys traveling and the outdoors. She spends her free time skiing, hiking, backpacking, mountain biking and fishing with her husband, children and golden retrievers.

Biography

Bryce Desmond, DO was born and raised in Utah’s Salt Lake Valley. He earned his Bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Utah in the field of exercise physiology. During this time he was also actively involved in performing arts as a drummer. He won multiple awards, contests, and competitions as a musician and was able to raise over $12,000 for local and national charities by donating concert ticket sales. He earned his medical degree from Touro University Nevada in Las Vegas where he graduated with honors as a member of Sigma Sigma Phi. He completed a traditional internship at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis, Oregon.

He is currently part of the Dermatology Residency program at Silver Falls Dermatology and Allergy.

Biography

Benjamin Perry, DO was raised in Corvallis, Oregon where he graduated from Corvallis High School. He played basketball at Mt. Hood Community College, earning all-academic team honors while graduating with his associate’s degree. He earned his bachelor’s degree with honors from Utah State University.

Dr. Perry graduated with honors from medical school at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. He completed his traditional rotating internship at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis, Oregon.

Dr. Perry is currently part of the Dermatology Residency program at Silver Falls Dermatology and Allergy.

Biography

Lauren Boudreaux, DO was born and raised in Houston, Texas. Her undergraduate education was at St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX where she obtained a degree in Bioinformatics and participated in numerous research projects. During and after college, Dr. Boudreaux worked as a medical assistant for two local dermatologists for over five years where her desire to specialize blossomed. She attended medical school at University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, TX and completed clinical rotations primarily in New York City offering exposure to diverse patient populations and clinical experiences. Her internship was completed at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center after which she joined Silver Falls Dermatology to complete her residency. Dr. Boudreaux enjoys treating all dermatologic conditions with a focus on acne, psoriasis and surgical dermatology.

Biography

Stephanie Howerter, DO was born and raised in southwest West Virginia. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Marshall University with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. She continued her education at Marshall University to acquire a master’s degree in Biomedical Science. Thereafter, she attended the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine to earn her medical degree with honors. After graduating from medical school, she completed her internship at Lewis Gale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg, VA. She then earned a fellowship from University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA with emphasis on teledermatology. She enjoys singing and playing guitar, as well as cooking and spending time with her husband, Justin, and dog, Shelby.
